Leg 2: Ba Ria-La Gi (88 km)

On this second leg, there is a highway, Highway 55, that meanders through the towns of Ba Ria, Long Dien, Dat Do, Phuoc Buu, and La Gi.  We could have ridden this Highway all the way to La Gi, our rest destination, but optioned for a detour.  At the town, Dat Do, we detoured from Highway 55 by turing right on Road 44B heading East toward the ocean.  This road leads us a more scenic route "Vung Tau-Binh Chau" Road.  This road is situated next to the sea waters and took us through the coastal towns of Ho Tram, Ho Coc, and Binh Chau before taking us back to Highway 55 to La Gi.  Some things to pay attention on this leg are the strong head winds and the small band of hills near La Gi.  The winds are awfully strong and difficult to ride against.  Couple with the hills, they make it a difficult bike riding day.  Be mindful to take a lot of rest stops and eat/drink plentiful to ensure the body is replenished with energy.
