Leg No. 3:  Thanh Hóa-Vinh (138 km)

You will leave Thanh Hóa and head South on Highway 1A toward the towns of Quảng Xương, Tĩnh Gia, Cầu Giát, Diễn Châu, Quán Hành, and Vinh.

The warm-up legs are now over as you begin this leg from Thanh Hóa to Vinh.  The previous two short legs should provide you with a comfortable understanding of what to expect on the road.

As you begin this leg, remember the ride is longer, 138 km.  If you are to ride at an easy pace, start off the bike day early.  This will give you more time to admire the sceneries and have plenty of rest stops along the way.  Remember to eat a good hearty breakfast prior to the start of the bike ride.  This will give you a boost in energy.  The road again is relatively flat.  At the 20 km point away from Vinh, take time for a rest stop.  The road into Vinh, you will encounter some head wind that makes the ride slow and strenuous.  So, a rest stop is important before riding into the city.  Vinh is a large city and was once a major thriving port during the war.  There are many nice hotels to stay at as there are nice restaurants.  As always, end the day with a hearty, nutritious meal.  There are many more kilometers to go on the trip.  It is important to take care of your health and body so that you are strong and able enough to complete the trip.
